Making Weed legal

April 7Th student in my class did a presentation on making marijuana legal. His argument why it should be legal is that it does not affect the mind and makes kids less likely to drink. I was actual infuriated that he did this for a project. he claims it is not an addictive drug but in reality it is. You smoke it to get the "high" feeling which then leads to you wanting a better high so you get introduced to a more toxic drug. Marijuana slows your heart beat not allowing enough blood to your brain therefore causing it to be starved of oxygen. this is not healthy and should not be allowed. They say it is just a plant and can not hurt you but it does. Also the only people who do think it should be legal is because it is their drug of choice.
This presentation makes me think more about these addictive drugs and their effects they have on people. That presentation did not change my mind and many of my class mates minds.

Socialism

Socialism
What is socialism? What affects does it have on the country? Socialism is the assumption that people are inherently bad and if left to themselves, they will let their nabor starve for says. They believe to prevent this; everyone must give all they have to their government who will benignly distribute it to the needy. Our current president (Barack Obama) has socialist beliefs. He believes that you can spread the wealth by dividing it. An economics professor at a local college made a
statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked & that no one would be poor & no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades would be averaged & everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail & no one would receive an A... After the first test, the grades were averaged & everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset & the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less & the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame & name-calling all resulted in hard feelings & no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, & the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. “You
cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." Adrian Rogers
This man is truly a genius! So how would socialism effect the economy? You decide if you will stand for this or not.

Medical Marijuana

Medical Marijuana

Should Medical Marijuana be distributed as a pain medical? I think it is stupid to sell a drug such as this one for pain. Any drug addict can go to the right Doctor who will just give out medical Marijuana prescriptions instead of pain pills. This is just another way for duggys to get the fix they need and I think it is stupid that is is passing through senate. This is wrong and I hope it does not get through. There are many pills you can get so it is pointless to sell a leaf for a pain.

Anthem by Ayn Rand conflict

Anthem Conflict

In the book Anthem, written by Ayn Rand the conflict can be a little difficult to decipher. The conflict in the book so far has been mainly man vs. self and man vs. world because he is fighting on whether to do what is agents the law and his man vs world is him vs the governments laws. He and his brothers are in a society of socialism and dictatorship. The kids have no choice once so ever about what job they do; The council is who decides who goes where and what they learn. Main conflict is man vs. government.

Casualties of the War on Terror

Everyday we see on the news that more soldiers have died in Iraq. Today, the 27th of October, is another one of those days that raise the question as to whether we should send more troops to Iraq or to pull them out. Today 8 more soldiers were killed in Iraq between two attacks. The first attack, the insurgents used an IED (improvised explosive devise) combined with small arms fire which killed six soldiers, then the second attack killed one soldier with another road side bomb. Most people are opposed to the war because our soldiers are dying. Should we keep the soldiers in Iraq? Well, if we don’t, then their lives would be for nothing. Our soldiers did not die for their cause to achieve little to nothing. We have saved countless lives and I can’t even imagine the terror that the women, men and children face in their everyday lives. We are the only chance they have to rid the terror and fear that their average day holds. We have brought food to families that are starving and helped a country that is having a hard time to fend for themselves. If we give up now, then I should see everyone in America visiting those graves of those who died for a good cause that achieved little because the American population turned against the war and a so called American president who does not even honor our country by putting his hand over his heart and saying the Pledge of Allegiance like every President before Obama has. In the next week or so, the disgrace of our country will decide whether to send troops or to pull them back. This rests in his hands, so I hope he makes the right choice, and though he and others might not see the long-term benefit of cleansing the terror out of that country and it citizens who live there life in fear then for our soldiers always be honored more then they are today. It hurts me to think, that on Veterans Day, kids are in school, rather than being encouraged to honor those whom have given their lives for our freedom and the freedom of others. Please give to the Bruce McCandless State Veterans Nursing Home to give back to those disabled veterans for their sacrifices and losses, emotionally and physically.

How do words and actions influence what others become?

Words and actions take a big part of what people become. The influence you give others and the influences others give you can affect weather you do bad things or good thinks. If you are being a bad influence to others then you are not just effecting your self but the people around you because if they join in on the bad things then they will badly affect the way they act and what people think of you. It is basically the same if someone is being a bad influence then you may follow in what that person is doing or say which affects who you become. Actions and words can affect you or others in a good way or in a bad way.
